Door Replacement

A new entry or patio door runs ~$10,000 — so the first thing we check is the $175 question: is it the hardware, the glass or the frame? Replacement done right when it truly wins.

Charlotte ZIP code ranks as North Carolina’s strongest buyer’s housing market - WWAYTV3

With some Charlotte ZIP codes now ranking as the strongest buyer's markets in the state, sellers face more scrutiny during the inspection process. Inspectors often flag foggy glass or windows that won't stay up, which can lead to costly repair credits or price cuts far exceeding the cost of a sash balancer at $175 or foggy sealed glass starting from $198. It is more cost-effective to fix these items now than to replace a new wood window for about $2,000 or a new patio door for about $10,000 later. We can handle these repairs with a 5-year written warranty, and our visits are booked by the crew's schedule.

Real Estate Market Trends in Charlotte, NC: Prices Fall - Realtor.com

With prices falling in the Charlotte market, buyers may have more leverage during negotiations. When walking through a home, look for specific failures rather than assuming you need a full replacement, as a window latch or lock is only $115 and a sash balancer is $175. Instead of budgeting $1,000+ for a new vinyl window, you can often just replace a foggy or broken sealed glass unit starting from $198. Pricing your offer based on these specific parts rather than full replacements keeps the deal honest and fair.

Cities with the fastest-growing home prices in the Charlotte metro area - Stacker

With home prices growing quickly across the Charlotte metro area, maintaining your property's condition is more important than ever for a successful sale. Home inspectors easily spot soft or rotted wood on sills and sashes, which sellers often mistake for a minor cosmetic issue that requires a full window replacement. Instead of spending $1,000+ on a new vinyl window or about $2,000 for wood, we can rebuild a rotted sash from $375 or a sill or frame from $475.

The Decision

What Actually Condemns a Door — and What Only Looks Terminal

Doors feel binary — works or doesn't — but they're assemblies, and assemblies fail one part at a time. Sticking and dragging: hinges and geometry, re-hung. Rot at the frame bottom: wood rebuild from $475. Fogged or cracked glass: sealed panel from $198. Locks fighting back: hardware from $175. The genuine death sentences are short: a slab split through its core, a frame crushed past re-hanging, damage exceeding the sum of the parts. Everything else is a repair wearing a scary face.

  • Sticking, leaking, rattling — parts, not verdicts

  • Slab split through / frame crushed — honest replacement

  • Both columns priced on one free written sheet

  • Most 'replace it' doors fail a ten-minute inspection

The Careful Hour

Why Is the Installation the Product When Replacement Wins?

Two identical doors, two installers, fifteen years later: one still closes like new, the other drags and rots. The difference was the hour nobody watched — frame set dead square, shims where the load lives, flashing and sill pan lapped so water sheds out, foam and perimeter seals, hardware fitted and cycled. That hour is our specialty because we spend the rest of the week repairing its absence. Entry, patio, storm and French doors; old unit hauled off; opening never left unsecured.

  • Square, shimmed, flashed, sealed — the whole ballgame

  • Opening rot fixed while the wall is open

  • Entry, patio, storm and French doors installed

  • One-day installs for standard entries

Door Replacement — FAQ

That's three repairs sharing a door: geometry (re-hang), seals ($175) and hardware ($175) — under $600 against a ~$10,000 door. When one door collects several failures, the two-column sheet decides by arithmetic. Sometimes replacement genuinely wins; usually the sheet saves you four figures.
Before We Arrive

How to Prepare for Your WowFix Door Repair Visit

  1. 1

Photograph the door and the problem spot

Take one photo of the whole door and a close-up of the trouble area — the track, the handle, the glass, or the soft wood at the bottom. It lets us quote faster and bring the right parts.

  2. 2

Note what the door is doing wrong

Jot down the symptom — grinds or sticks on the track, won't lock or latch, drafts around the edges, fog or cracks in the glass, soft flaking wood at the bottom. It tells us whether it's hardware, a glass-only swap (from $198), or wood work.

  3. 3

Clear the doorway and a few feet on each side

Move mats, planters and furniture back from both sides of the door — most door work happens from inside and outside at once, and a clear opening keeps the visit quick.

  4. 4

Find any brand sticker or paperwork

Door brands hide their stickers on the edge or hinge side. If you spot one — or still have install paperwork — set it aside. Not required, but it helps us match rollers, locks and glass on the first trip.

  5. 5

Make sure we can reach the outside of the door

Unlock gates, secure pets, and clear the deck or patio path. With access to both faces of the door, nearly every repair finishes in a single visit.
