What the clock is. A double-pane unit is two panes on a hollow spacer, sealed with butyl, with desiccant inside to keep the space dry. Sun flexes the seal every day. One summer the butyl opens, moisture gets in, and the desiccant fills up like a bathtub. You see nothing until it's full, and then the fog shows on the glass.
